music an articulation is a
sign, direction, or
performance technique which indicates or affects the
transition or continuity between
notes or
sounds. Articulations include
ties, slurs, phrase marks, staccatos, staccatissimos,
accents, sforzandos, rinforzandos, and legatos. (Cooper 1985, glossary)
