Reggae is a kind of
Jamaican
popular music that has spread to much of the world,
especially including
Africa. There are many African reggae musicians with a wide
fanbase both on the continent and abroad. Three well-known
African reggae artists are Alpha Blondy, Majek Fashek and
Lucky Dube.
Bob Marley, a world-famous Jamaican reggae musician, performed in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1980; that concert is often credited as the beginning of reggae in Africa.
